Employee Spotlight- Sandy Ennis

Sandy Ennis- Store Manager

How long have you worked for CBM?

34 years strong!

What was your first role at CBM and how did that evolve?

I started as a cashier part-time. The general manager at the time, Lou, acted as a mentor and teacher for me. Over time, with the opening of an additional store in Oakford, I shifted to managing the store and Steve Wade led the lumber yard.

What do you like about working here?

The people I get to work with and our shared camaraderie. I enjoy getting to build relationships with the customers. I have always had fun at work and never once dreaded coming here.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Open up the store at 7 am every morning and wear a multitude of hats depending on the day. Execute special orders including whole houses, doors, stairs, etc. I do most of the ordering for the store and individual customers; I am usually the first point of contact.

What’s one of your favorite memories from working here?

The tradeshows that the store used to put on alongside vendors. The first one was at Danis’s Hall and people loved the event. We used to host a bagel day with coffee and have hot dog events. Vendors would sponsor us and get to introduce new products to customers.

What’s it like to have watched the business grow since you started working here?

I find it unbelievable to think how we went from pencil and paper to computers. Technology has taken out hours of extra work and made some aspects easier.

What are some hobbies you have outside of work?

I did not have a lot of time to develop hobbies with family responsibilities and working ten-hour days. However, I enjoy reading and taking walks.

Where is your happy place?

Home- I got to build my own house back in the day with some help from CBM.

Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Retired and relaxing
